You can call us during our opening hours, or pop in to our offices where one of our friendly staff can help you
We are a charity which supports unpaid family carers who as part of their everyday life look after someone who is ill, frail or disabled. We help carers cope with the emotional and physical stresses that arise from their caring roles. We do not employ or supply professional carer staff.
A carer's assessment is a short questionnaire, carried out by your local authority social services, and is an opportunity for you to talk to a social worker about your role as a carer. It enables you to discuss your needs and to find out what support is available for you in your role as a carer. To find out more contact your council.
We are primarily funded by Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council to run our services, groups, cafes and lounges. We do however, ask for some contributions towards some of our pampering treatments, transport services, training courses and refreshments at groups and cafes.
We do not run a transport service ourselves but there are many schemes providing door to door service for people unable to use public transport. In particular we refer people to:
Bedford Borough Door to Door - 01234 345327
Mid Beds Link A Ride - 01525 840511
South Beds Dial A Ride - 01525 222331
Buzzer Buses Dial A Ride - 01525 853566
Village Care Schemes may also be able to offer one off transport - 01234 832648
You can download a registration form here or call us on 0300 111 1919 and register over the phone. Once registered we will send you a welcome pack with details of all our services and carer groups.
