Seven half marathons, in seven days, for seven different Bedfordshire charities - that is the challenge one businessman has set himself.
The seven charities are: Road Victims Trust, Carers in Bedfordshire, Keech Hospice Care, Bedford Open Door, NSPCC Bedfordshire, Beds Garden Carers and Bedford and District Handicapped Riders' Association.
Nick Kier, partner at Bedford estate agent Lane & Holmes is now asking members of the public to join him in his fundraising efforts this October. "This is about raising money, of course, but it is also about raising awareness and getting other people involved," Nick said at the launch of the event for the St George's Day Charity Fund on Thursday.
Participants are invited to hit the road for any of the seven routes covered between October 22 and October 28, running for any one of the local causes.
The seven charities are: Road Victims Trust, Carers in Bedfordshire, Keech Hospice Care, Bedford Open Door NSPCC Bedfordshire, Beds Garden Carers and Bedford and District Handicapped Riders' Association. Seven local benefactors have offered up to £2,000 in matching funds to each of the chosen charities.
Nina Pitcairn, former employee at Carers in Bedfordshire, will be running all seven legs of the challenge with Nick. She said: "We are very grateful to Nick for choosing us as part of his 7for7in7 challenge and are delighted to be taking part – three staff members have already signed up including our CEO!"
