Cookery with Misbah

We are so pleased to welcome Misbah of Foodbreak for a series of 4 cookery workshops.Learn to cook these dishes and then enjoy eating them!

About Misbah: 

I love food and everything about food. I love experimenting in my kitchen and creating new and healthy recipes.

I started food blogging in  2016 from my Facebook page called Foodbreak. I start running food based well being workshops 3 years ago. I have delivered food workshops for Bedford borough, MIND blmk and carers in Bedfordshire young carers team. Now I look forward to see you in my food workshops.

Interactive 5 Ways to Well being

Learn and practice ways to promote your health and wellbeing in this feel good workshop.

Chair Yoga for carers: Move - Breathe - Relax

  • Wednesday mornings from 10am - 10:30am with Trish Munro
  • Free on Zoom Donations welcome!
  • This is open to carers and the person you care for.
  • The sessions are led by experienced and qualified yoga teacher, Trish Munro. Chair yoga is for everyone, no matter what age you are or what level of fitness you are at, you can experience the health benefits of yoga. The classes include gentle yoga stretches, breathing techniques & relaxation techniques to exercise the body and calm the mind. At the end of the session, the participant will feel better physically and mentally. You may find it easier to be sitting on something like a dining room chair rather than on an armchair but it is not essential.

Arm chair yoga for carers

  • Friday afternoons 3 - 3.30pm August: 7th, 14th and 28th
  • Zoom, free Donations welcome!
  • This is open to carers and the person you care for.
  • The sessions are led by qualified yoga teacher, Linda Wheatley. You will be guided through breathing, gentle stretching and muscle activation techniques, working at your own pace and to your own ability. You may find it easier to be sitting on something like a dining room chair rather than on a squashy armchair but that’s not essential.

Art in the style of...

  • When: Thursdays 11.30am from 25 June to 30 July; 6, 13, 20 and 27 August
  • How: Zoom, free. Donations welcome!
  • This is open to carers and the person you care for.
  • Provider: Natasha is an artist who provides creative workshops. She is part of a  social enterprise is called Real Inspiration that provides creative, community based workshops and projects. www.realinspiration.co.uk
  • Over the next 6 weeks we will look at artwork by a different artist each week and have a go at working in their style. 

Week 1: Romero Britto, A current Brazilian artist. We will be looking at his landscapes and having a go at our own using simple shapes and pattern with bright colours.

For this session you will need paper,a pencil, rubber and colouring materials.
Natasha will use zoom to work you through the creative activities on paper.
Suitable for all abilities.

 Choir - singing because we care!

  • Tuesday afternoons at 2 pm
  • This is open to carers only
  • The sessions are led by experienced and qualified choirmaster Evelyn Sutherland who runs a number of local community choirs.  You do not have to sing well: just have enthusiasm and a willingness to connect with other carers in this way.  You do not have to be an accomplished singer, it’s only you who can hear yourself on Zoom.
  • The Carers Choir has been running for 5 years. The choir regularly sing at St John's Moggerhanger and take part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Paul's Church

Music Sessions

  • First Wednesday of each month 2pm-3pm.

  • For carers of someone living with dementia and/or someone living with dementia 
  • Sing along to well known songs with Teela from Music 24 and her acoustic guitar. Fun and inclusive warm-ups plus the chance to dance. Lyrics provided on screen.

Monthly Meet Ups

August - Blast from the Past "A chance to rummage For buried treasure, Something from your past Share for all our pleasure’"

  • 5 August, 11 - 1pm
  • Following the wonderful feedback from Carers Week we have been asked to run this again. So bring along something you treasure and share its’ story with other carers: photos, medals, ornaments.   
  • 'This trip down memory lane, exploring those special memories and feelings was very uplifting and mindful. Every body had a really interesting story and I thoroughly enjoyed a glimpse into their past' Carer
