Relaxation is an important key to health and well-being and aims to decrease the efforts of stress on the body and mind.
Stress is known to contribute to the development of many health problems. As we relax, our body has an opportunity to unwind and heal itself. It reduces symptoms of stress and makes you feel more able to cope with your caring role.
Our relaxation therapists offer this service from our Bedford and Biggleswade offices by appointments during the day and available at some groups. A course of five 1 hour sessions costs £120 or £25 per session if booked individually.
Our recommended way of accessing our relaxation support is through the NHS Carers Grants, for carers who are eligible. Contact your support worker for referrals to this service. Therapies are also available at some of our Carers Cafes - appointments preferable. Occasionally sessions are available on the day, please ask on the door.
Relaxation Therapy can help:
- Reduce anger and frustration
- Reduce muscular tension
- Reduce symptoms of anxiety
- Induce relaxation
- Calm breathing rates
- Manage chronic pain
- Generate restful sleep
- By giving you time away from your caring role

Well worth attending, the massage from Mel was lovely
Relaxes me, it’s very relaxes me. Gives me a lot of me time. Destresses me. Helps me cope and gives me something to look forward to
Helps me cope better, makes me calmer and more able to deal with anything that happens – I just want them everyday!
Vital to carry on and get through the crisis times. The grants meant that we could afford much needed respite. Also being listen to and believed made the difference between breaking down and carrying on.
