Carer Support Worker (Dementia) and Memory Navigator, Bedford - Ref: CSWD19

We help families affected by dementia navigate a seamless route through services available to them, guiding them along the way.

We are looking for someone with experience working with people with dementia or memory loss and carers to join our busy team of staff and volunteers. In this role you will help people affected by dementia to identify and access services that will maintain their health and wellbeing. These include one-to-one support, both over the phone and face to face, and group activities including cognitive stimulation activities, carer groups, information sessions for people living with dementia and carers and training. Key to the role is working in partnership with other organisations, nationally and locally, and the creativity and empathy to help people find solutions that work for them.

  • Ref: CSWD19
  • Grade/Salary: Grade 3; starting salary £20,516 FTE (pro rata for part time hours)
  • Hours: 28 hours a week preferred; applications will be considered for applicants wishing to work a minimum of 21 hours a week; weekend working will occasionally be required; evening working may be required.

Parent Carer Support Worker, Biggleswade - Ref: PCSW19

Our parent carer team of staff and volunteers supports parents caring for children with additional needs throughout their caring journey. From helping parents adjust to caring for a child with a disability or illness to negotiating the challenges of his/her transition to adulthood, our team is here to help.

We are looking for someone who ‘understands the system’ and has the skills and attributes to support carers in ways that will work for them. The work is wide-ranging, including facilitating groups and training, phone support and some 1-2-1 case work and advocacy. An ability and inclination to work in partnership with other agencies is key.

  • Ref: PCSW19
  • Grade/Salary: Grade 3; starting salary £20,516 FTE (pro rata for part time hours)
  • Hours: Up to 16 hours a week available; term-time or other flexible working arrangements available; weekend working will occasionally be required; evening working may be required.

Community Partnerships Organiser - Ref: CPO19

Every aspect of Carers in Bedfordshire’s support for carers relies on members of the community to make it happen. With more than 100 active volunteers working in every area of our work, over 90 businesses supporting carers through the Discount Card scheme, and individuals and organisations raising money to support us, we couldn’t do anything without our community’s support!

If you get a buzz from encouraging people over the phone as they ‘make things happen’, have first-rate admin, computer and organisational skills and are looking for a flexible role making a difference as part of a busy, creative team, our Community Partnerships team needs you!

You’ll enjoy a creative and flexible role. From liaising with Discount Card businesses to organising fundraising collections in supermarkets, processing volunteer applications to being out and about organising Carers Week activities, every day will be different.

Bedford Locality Administrator - Ref: BLA19

Our busy Bedford Locality Carer Support team needs a friendly, highly organised administrator to help them support adults caring for a loved one in Bedford. You will ensure our programme of carer groups and training events is relevant, up to date, and carers are supported to take part. You’ll coordinate appointments for our relaxation therapy team, and help us collect feedback from carers. If you are comfortable working on the phone and want a flexible, part-time role working in a friendly, busy office where  you’ll use your admin skills to make a difference to local people, this is a role for you.

  • Ref: BLA19
  • Grade/Salary: Grade 2b; starting salary £17,945 FTE (pro rata for part time hours)
  • Hours: 10 hours a week initially, worked over a minimum of two days, to include Fridays (ideal Friday hours 9am-2pm); flexible working arrangements available; weekend and evening working will occasionally be required. Additional hours may be available subsequently, by mutual agreement
