HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen's story

My mother lived with Multiple Sclerosis when I was growing up. I remember the days of feeling huge responsibility, of being scared that her illness would overwhelm her and of feeling isolated from friends, though I was fortunate to share this caring experience with my father and brother. In those days, there was little help around and life was tough for a wheelchair user.  

Today we have the benefit of organisations like Carers in Bedfordshire with all the resources and connections which can make all the difference to those important people in our communities who care for others. Let’s reach out and make sure that everyone knows there is support available no matter who they are
