I have been a carer for my partner for the last ten years when she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and bipolar.
I’m present through the highs and lows to provide support in whatever way she needs it. I escort her to appointments and make sure she is not on her own for too long.
I do the daily errands as she cannot face leaving the house.
I was awarded a carers grant for a bike – it has transformed my “me” time. I can jump on the bike, exercise my body, cleanse my mind and see a bit of the countryside, all without being gone for too long. My bike leaves me refreshed and better able to support my partner in all the ways she needs it.
