Carers Week is a national annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution you make to society. The theme for this year’s event is ‘making caring visible, valued and supported.’
Carers in Bedfordshire is bringing the campaign to life, by running a series of events and activities.
Nominate a carer to receive a bouquet of flowers
Do you know a carer who deserves flowers during Carers Week?
Other nominees will receive an email about their nomination, detailing why they are a Cause for Applause.
Employer presentation
We will be presenting to local businesses and organisations about ‘How to be a Carer-Friendly Employer.’ An estimated 600 carers leave employment each day because they can no longer juggle work and caring.
One of the easiest ways companies can help carers, is to take some simple steps towards making their workplace more carer-friendly.
Our webinar on 9 June will help them to do this. If you know a organisation that could benefit, please put them in touch with us via our web page Support from Businesses.
Walk and cream teas
We are running two walks for carers at the Forest of Marston Vale on 8 June at 10am and 1pm.
Following their stroll carers will have the opportunity to enjoy some delicious cream teas in the forest centre cafe, courtesy of the Moto in the Community Trust, the charitable arm of Moto Hospitality, the UK’s leading motorway service area provider.
Flitwick Family Fun Day
Following its success and popularity in 2021, we’ll be hosting a fun stall at Flitwick Family Fun Day which is back on Saturday 11 June, 12-10pm, at Millennium Park.
It’d be great if you could join us and find out more about how we, your local carer charity, supports unpaid carers in Bedfordshire.
Fundraising Quiz Night
A quiz night in aid of Carers in Bedfordshire will be held at the Five Bells, Henlow Village, on Sunday 12 June.

Supporting Carers UK’s Campaign
We’re supporting Carers UK’s campaign to call on the Government to outline additional support for carers – including breaks, respite and care services, infection control, identification of carers, financial help, and support to juggle work and care, helping to mitigate the impact caring can have on carers’ own physical and mental health.
