Recharging the batteries, respite options for carers
We invited carers to talk to us about respite, how they take a break from their caring role to recharge their batteries. They told us very graphically how respite plays a central role in maintaining their wellbeing and that of their family – if and when they can get it.
We’d like to thank all the participants who shared their thoughts. We are talking to Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council about their local offer to carers and how they can make this easier to navigate.
Please do send in your comments about the findings. We’re also interested to hear your examples of good care providers or holiday facilities for people with disabilities. Email harriet.opalinski@carersinbeds.org.uk or leave a message in live chat.
Adult Carers Survey 2021 – in nutshell, the survey revealed that carers have found our services that were available helpful. Carers feel supported, but remain exhausted both physically and mentally.
Take a few seconds to rate how we did in the last month or so.
If you are pleased with the service you received or event you attended, please leave a Google Review. When people are searching for support on the search engine, the more Google reviews we have the higher it places us, helping other carers to find us quickly.
We’d also love it if you tell the member of staff who you think deserves praise, or pop it in an email, which will help their development.
We work hard to give carers the highest standards of service, but occasionally we might not always meet carers’ expectations. If this happens, we do all we can to put things right, as quickly as possible and do our best to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again.
By registering with us as a carer you will get access to a whole range of services, including advice, information, access to our groups, events and carers grants.
