Groups and Events

Our groups and workshops offer you the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation, learn more about the condition you are caring for and of course, catch your breathYou can find details of all our events below. Some talks are available for you to watch at any time.

Support Groups

Carer support groups are friendly, informal get togethers, sometimes with a guest speaker, where you can chat to others about your caring role, and give each other support. Or simply just listen and be with others.

They run all over Bedfordshire, and now on Zoom, too. Caring can be lonely so having contact with other carers can fight off that horrible feeling of isolation. You can come regularly or just pop in now and again, and stay for a short time.

You can:

  • Share with others what it feels like to look after someone
  • Have your own needs recognised and understood – it’s a time for YOU.
  • Get information and learn more about support and local services
  • Share ideas on looking after yourself and managing your caring role
  • And what’s said in the group, remains in the group – it’s confidential

Support groups usually take place at places like community centres or cafes. There’s always tea/coffee on offer and our staff there to support you too. We know it can be daunting to come along for the first time by yourself – but you can be sure of a warm welcome.

You need to be registered with us as a carer before you can attend a support group – registering is quick and easy. Just click on the Register button below.

The button below will take you through to our What’s On page which has a full calander of our events and groups. From here you will be able to see our groups by location

Make sure you look out for our Saturday Social Groups. These are a great place for the whole family and you can even book a treatment or haircut with one of our practitioners. An excellent opportunity to give yourself a treat.

Workshops

There’s so much information and guidance out there that it can be confusing knowing where to start. Our workshop programme focuses on subjects that carers tell us they need. They are delivered in ways that recognise that you don’t always have a lot of time.

You’ll get the chance to learn alongside other carers or to work through digital resources.

Visit the What’s On page for more details.
