Cookery with Misbah

We are so pleased to welcome Misbah of Foodbreak Learn to cook these dishes and then enjoy eating them!

About Misbah: 

I love food and everything about food. I love experimenting in my kitchen and creating new and healthy recipes.

I started food blogging in 2016 from my Facebook page called Foodbreak. I start running food based well being workshops 3 years ago. I have delivered food workshops for Bedford borough, MIND BLMK and carers in Bedfordshire young carers team.

"I have also completed Food and Nutrition qualification in 2019. This course gave me confidence to answer questions about healthy eating and portion control."

A talk on Autism & ADHD for Dads & Grandads

This 3-hour workshop focuses on Autism and ADHD and is designed to give Dads and Grandads a better insight into these hidden conditions and provide strategies to help support children who have them.

The workshop will help you understand how children with these conditions see the world around them, and why they often struggle to make sense of it. Delivered in Mick’s practical, humorous and down to earth style it is guaranteed to increase your knowledge, expand your skill base and help you see the positive aspects of these conditions.

Christmas Sing-a-long

Join together with staff from Carers in Bedfordshire, our choir leader, Evelyn Sutherland will lead us in a festive evening of songs and Christmas tunes. Wear a jumper and a Christmas hat, light a candle and share your favourite cracker joke. A way of connecting together to celebrate the season.

Chair Yoga for carers: Move - Breathe - Relax

  • Wednesday mornings from the 16th September to the 11 December, 10am - 10:30am with Trish Munro

  • This is open to Carers, the person you care for & Former carers
  • The sessions are led by experienced and qualified yoga teacher, Trish Munro. Chair yoga is for everyone, no matter what age you are or what level of fitness you are at, you can experience the health benefits of yoga. The classes include gentle yoga stretches, breathing techniques & relaxation techniques to exercise the body and calm the mind. At the end of the session, the participant will feel better physically and mentally. You may find it easier to be sitting on something like a dining room chair rather than on an armchair but it is not essential.

Armchair yoga for carers

  • Friday afternoons 3 - 3.30pm October, 2, 9, 16, 23, November 6, 13, 20, 27, December, 4 & 11.
  • Zoom, free Sign me up  Donations welcome!
  • This is open to Carers the person you care for & Former carers
  • The sessions are led by qualified yoga teacher, Linda Wheatley. You will be guided through breathing, gentle stretching and muscle activation techniques, working at your own pace and to your own ability. You may find it easier to be sitting on something like a dining room chair rather than on a squashy armchair but that’s not essential.

Art Workshops with Natasha 

Natasha works with artists to educate them about classic and comtemporary art. Whether you are a complete novice or a budding Picasso there will be something for you to enjoy.

Her sessions are suitable for all abilities

  • Here the group look at artwork by an artist and have a go at working in their style.

 Choir - singing because we care!

  • Tuesday afternoons at 3.30 pm 
  • November 24, December 1, 8, 15,
  • The next 11 sessions are:   January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 23 February, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

    Please note there is no session on 16 February this is a 1 week half term break.

  • This is open to Carers & Former carers 
  • The sessions are led by experienced and qualified choirmaster Evelyn Sutherland who runs a number of local community choirs.  You do not have to sing well: just have enthusiasm and a willingness to connect with other carers in this way.  You do not have to be an accomplished singer, it’s only you who can hear yourself on Zoom.
  • The Carers Choir has been running for 5 years. The choir regularly sing at St John's Moggerhanger and take part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Paul's Church

Walking Groups

Walking has many health benefits. It can help with weight loss and being with others can reduce social isolation. Being out in nature can also help improve your sense of wellbeing and mental health.

We will social distance walking.

All Walking groups have been suspended due to the Covid 19 Lockdown. We hope to be back in 2021.
