This Carers Week - 11th to 17th June 2018 - we encouraged our Carers and our local community to become healthier and more connected.
We started the Week off early, on Saturday June 9th with an informative conference for people who support their elderly relatives. This fantastic day included special guest speaks, a panel of experts and an interactive Q&A, giving advice on topics such as housing, dementia, the changing relationships, wills and finance.
Monday's highlights included a guided tour of Bedford Park- improving both wellbeing and knowledge of our local community, scone at the Leighton Buzzard Cream Tea and a special wellbeing event for our Young Adult Carers.
On Tuesday, a Carers Week themed Carers Rest - with a quiz and a cuppa! We also had staff and ambassadors at local GP practices and Hospitals, such as Cauldwell Medical Centre and Bedford Hopsital.
Wednesday saw our Dunstable Downs Carers Group having a great time, a Behind the Scenes of our Young Carers Service and a brilliant Afternoon Tea the Luton and Dunstable Hospital Carers Lounge!
Thursday included our Leighton Buzzard Drop In and Carers Thursday at St Johns Hopice who were visited by lovely representatives of No. 7 at Boots demonstrating how to take care of yourself.
On Friday, the second day of hosting an informational stall at Sainsbury's Fairfield Park where a large team of ambassadors, staff and carers celebrated Carers Week with stickers, balloons and met many local people from our community.
We rounded off a fantastic week on Sunday with a Skydive, with brave jumpers from two organisations that generously chose Carers in Bedfordshire as their Charity of the Year, Sainsburys Biggleswade Superstore and BlueBird Care bedford.
