Relaxation therapy

We know that relaxation therapy can really enhance a carer’s wellbeing and are looking for volunteers to help us offer carers even more of this type of support.
Group setting You will give massage therapy to carers who visit one of our many groups around the county. This could be on a regular basis or as and when depending your availability and location.
You will deliver seated, fully clothed therapies in the same room the group is held. A support worker would be available at all times. Suitable treatments would be manicures, hand massage, foot massage, neck and shoulder massage.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy
We are not currently recruiting to this role
Cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) is a recommended therapy based on stimulating activities and exercises in a group. People find this helps memory and communication. You'll be an important part of a small team, helping the group leader in the weekly group sessions based on the structure of recognised CST.
You'll help group members to join in with activities, offer refreshments and help prepare and deliver creative and other activities. You may run the sessions yourself if you become accredited after 1 days training. You may also give general support to the carers group which meets in tandem to the CST sessions. Telephone Signposting
People with dementia or memory loss and those caring for a relative with dementia can find it difficult to pick their way through the myriad of various local services. Can you be their navigator?
We give you training so you can help signpost people who call our memory navigation helpline. You will also stay in touch with those who have registered for this service to give them updates.

Helping at groups
We are not currently recruiting to this role but would be interested in Zoom buddies
Volunteers are a great help at carers support groups, by welcoming people and offering hospitality - working with staff to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Read more about Helping at groups
Admin Support
We are not currently recruiting to this role
Learn or brush up your admin skills in one of our busy offices in Bedford. You can help us with photocopying, scanning, data entry, reception and general office duties. Read more about Admin Support
Call a Carer
Are you good on the phone? Could you ring new carers to let them know what help we offer in their area and any groups, training or activities coming up? Volunteers also make a catch up call to carers we haven't heard from for a while

Home visits

Sign up as a dementia befriender and give a carer two hours freedom a week by providing companionship to their relative. Read more about Home visits
Helping young carers

Volunteers can play a big part at our clubs for Young Carers, aged between 4 – 16 years. The clubs are fun, give the young carer a break and the chance to get some support.

121 IT Support for carers and staff
We are not currently recruiting to this role
Technology can help relieve isolation, and enable carers to connect to others but what if you have a laptop, tablet or mobile and don't really know how to use it? You will be helping carers get the most out of their device and also assist staff in the Biggleswade office. Read more about 121 IT Support
Ambassador
We are not currently recruiting to this role
Do you like getting out and about? Help us to reach more carers by going to community groups and venues to talk about how we can help. Become an ambassador to tell community groups how they may be able to help us by raising funds and spreading the word. Promote our Carers Discount Card out in the commuity to help carers save money.
Perhaps you could be a GP Link? Check your surgery has our latest leaflets to give out to carers so they know support is there for them.
Fundraising
If you want experience of the fundraising world, you might be interested in helping our fundraising team. At the moment, we are looking for help with coordinating our collecting tins.
